October, 2016

The 8th Annual Butterfly Benefit

Was Held at Elawa Farm in Lake Forest

Guests enjoyed hearty farm-to-table food with wine, beer, and live jazz.  Five Star Chef, Steve Chiappetti of Purely Simple Kitchen provided an entertaining and informative cooking demonstration and kids enthusiastically participated in a special kitchen event designed just for them.  Attendees took home great prizes from the raffle and silent auction tables as well as an exciting live auction led by our emcee, NBC's Christian Farr. Our sincere thanks to Illinois Bone and Joint Institute, LLC, First Bank and Trust, Evanston, CTS Financial Group, Genentech, A Member of the Roche Group, and Allstate Insurance for their generous event support.

Grant Received from The Auxiliary of NorthShore University HealthSystem!
Karen Dove Cabral Foundation is very pleased by this recognition and support from NorthShore Univeraity Healthsystem building our collaboration with Kellogg Cancer Centers to provide vital assistance to young breast cancer mothers.

The 7th Annual Butterfly Reception and Benefit

Was Held at the Evanston Woman's Club

Guests enjoyed a light buffet with wine, beer, and live jazz as we honored David J. Winchester, MD.  They took home great prizes from the raffle and silent auction tables as well as an exciting live auction led by Emcee, Gene Honda. Our thanks to Illinois Bone & Joint Institute, First Bank & Trust Evanston, CTS Financial Group, Genentech, A Member of the Roche Group, and Allstate Insurance for their generous support of this event.

6th Annual "Pink Out" girls soccer day at Lyons Township H.S. in LaGrange, supporting The Karen Dove Cabral Foundation.  Since our first year, Andy Newcomb and the LTHS athletic program have raised several thousands of dollars to help us.

Benefit Bowling Party! On Sunday October 12, 2014, at Strike Ten Lanes in Rozelle, a group of our friends enjoyed pizza, soda, munchies, and bowling, along with a raffle and silent auction to support our foundation.  Thank you Strike Ten for your support!

Woman’s Club Awards $4.5K Grant!

Our foundation has received a $4,500 programmatic grant from the Woman’s Club of Evanston. Their goal to address the community’s most pressing needs aligns squarely with our mission. This grant will expand assistance to young breast cancer moms struggling with financial limitations, to build up and defend their health, their strength, and their spirit.

February, 2014

$100,000 Milestone!

On Valentine’s Day, at the Kellogg Cancer Center in Evanston, an event was held to mark the foundation’s 5 year history achieving 100 thousand dollars in donations to help breast cancer patients and their families facing the costs and challanges of a cancer diagnosis.
 
Kathleen Dove, Executive Director of the foundation, said, "Our generous donors and our collaboration with NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center are essential to improving quality of life for young mothers with breast cancer. This was Karen's vision, now a reality."

October, 2013  

"Paying it Forward!"

Heart Opening Yoga and Reception  Sara Fishman Lewis (a breast cancer survivor who was helped by our foundation a few years ago) rallied her friends to create and host a VERY successful event in Highland Park to support other young mothers with breast cancer through our foundation.  Congratulations to Sara Lewis, Amy Levy, Beth Prager, their friends and family!

Benefit Bowling Party! On Sunday September 8, 2013, at Brunswick Zone, in Niles a group of our friends enjoyed pizza, soda, munchies, and bowling, along with a raffle and silent auction to support our foundation.  Thank you Brunswick Zone for your support!

Precious Stone Safari! On July 25th at 5 PM, renowned jewelry artist Eve J. Alfille opened her Gallery and Studio in Evanston to support our foundation.  Thank you Eve!

May, 2013 

Lyons Township High School once again donated all proceeds raised during Soccer and Lacrosse pink out games to the Karen Dove Cabral Foundation.  This has become a significant source of funding for our work!  We thank LTHS for their strong support!

December, 2012  

Today's Chicago Woman Foundation selected the Karen Dove Cabral Foundation as a recipient of a grant as part of their 30FOR30 campaign.  The foundation is featured in the December 2012 issue of TCW magazine and on their website (#23, page5)Our thanks to Today's Chicago Woman for their generous grant and recognition! 

MathWorks, a leading developer of mathematical computing software for engineers and scientists, chose the Karen Dove Cabral Foundation to receive a year-end gift as part of their year-end philanthropy campaign.  We thank you, MathWorks!
