This Butterfly Benefit was our first full post-pandemic event!
Big thanks to all who came out to support young mothers in need who are dealing with breast cancer!
With actress Cheryl Hamada as emcee and keynote remarks by Dr. Tricia Moo-Young, our guests enjoyed a live auction, raffle prizes, a special kids event, delicious catering by Froggy's of Highwood, and live music!

Lyons Township H. S. Girls Soccer Scores Again!
Among our strongest supporters, Coach Andy Newcomb and the LTHS athletic program have raised and donated several thousand dollars in 2022 to help young mothers dealing with breast cancer with their very successful "Pink Out" campaigns at Lyons Township High School in LaGrange.

Unfortunately, the 2021 Butterfly Benefit had be CANCELLED
due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, through direct appeals and the generosity of loyal donors, we continued to provide support to young mothers in need, coping with breast cancer.

We had to cancel the 2020 Butterfly Benefit due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, our generous and loyal supporters responded to a direct mail and email appeal, providing significant funding to continue our mission!

The 11th annual Butterfly Benefit
was held at the
Winnetka Community House
WTTW Correspondent and Chicago Tonight Host Brandis Friedman was our Emcee. Attendees took home great prizes from the raffle tables as well as the exciting live auction led by Chicago-based actress, Cheryl Hamada. Guests enjoyed live jazz, wine, beer, and hearty farm-to-table food created by Five Star Chef, Steve Chiappetti. Kids enthusiastically participated in their own special cooking activity. Central High School in Burlington, Illinois really stepped up in September. For a first effort, this was truly remarkable! In just 3 weeks the whole school community pulled together and raised $5000 for the Karen Dove Cabral Foundation! Coordinator Jane Schmidtt said, "Our CHS community was ready!" And she was really right! The community-wide effort involved students, teachers, parents, sports teams, the CHS Marching Band, even the kitchen staff, as well as many others. Our sincere thanks and profound gratitude to everyone who went the extra mile to raise money and build awareness for young mothers with breast cancer! Thank you!

Was Held at The Kenilworth Assembly Hall in Kenilworth, IL
Attendees took home great prizes from the raffle and silent auction tables as well as the exciting live auction led by our emcee, Sylvia Ewing. Guests enjoyed live jazz, wine, beer, and hearty farm-to-table food created by Five Star Chef, Steve Chiappetti of Purely Simple Kitchen who also provided an entertaining and informative cooking demonstration. Kids enthusiastically participated in a Make Your Own Pizza activity. Wisconsin Teen Steps Up!
While attending our 2017 Butterfly Benefit, a Bayside Middle School student decided to get involved. She rallied her friends in the school's service club, Helping Hands, and they raised $1385, mostly in small change!
This donation makes a genuine difference for young mothers who are dealing with breast cancer. We are most grateful for her help and impressed by her success! Thank you, Amalija and Helping Hands!

Was Held at Elawa Farm in Lake Forest

Woman’s Club Awards $4.5K Grant!
Our foundation has received a $4,500 programmatic grant from the Woman’s Club of Evanston. Their goal to address the community’s most pressing needs aligns squarely with our mission. This grant will expand assistance to young breast cancer moms struggling with financial limitations, to build up and defend their health, their strength, and their spirit.

$100,000 Milestone!
On Valentine’s Day, at the Kellogg Cancer Center in Evanston, an event was held to mark the foundation’s 5 year history achieving 100 thousand dollars in donations to help breast cancer patients and their families facing the costs and challanges of a cancer diagnosis.
Kathleen Dove, Executive Director of the foundation, said, "Our generous donors and our collaboration with NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center are essential to improving quality of life for young mothers with breast cancer. This was Karen's vision, now a reality."

"Paying it Forward!"
Heart Opening Yoga and Reception Sara Fishman Lewis (a breast cancer survivor who was helped by our foundation a few years ago) rallied her friends to create and host a VERY successful event in Highland Park to support other young mothers with breast cancer through our foundation. Congratulations to Sara Lewis, Amy Levy, Beth Prager, their friends and family!

Today's Chicago Woman Foundation selected the Karen Dove Cabral Foundation as a recipient of a grant as part of their 30FOR30 campaign. The foundation is featured in the December 2012 issue of TCW magazine and on their website (#23, page5). Our thanks to Today's Chicago Woman for their generous grant and recognition!
